A Hero's Welcome: Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Returns to Office with Renewed Commitments
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to the people of Rivers State for the overwhelming show of solidarity and support demonstrated upon his return to office after the end of emergency rule in the state. On Friday, September 19, 2025, Governor Fubara addressed newsmen shortly after inspecting some sections of Government House, Port Harcourt, alongside his wife, Lady Valerie.
"I am really humbled by what I saw at the Airport. I was briefed with pictures too on what happened here yesterday. Your reception really humbled me, because it shows love, confidence, and solidarity," Governor Fubara said, visibly moved by the massive turnout.
The Governor emphasized that the reception was not just a celebration but a reaffirmation of the bond between his administration and the people of Rivers State. "I want to assure you that we will, by the grace of God, continue to do those things that made you people love us. I want to appreciate everyone and to say that we love you," he added.
Upon his arrival at the domestic wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport, Governor Fubara was warmly received by his deputy, Prof. (Mrs.) Ngozi Odu, Commissioners, leaders, serving and former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, serving and former chairmen of Councils, stakeholders, and well-wishers.
The Governor's return marks a new chapter in the state's history, and his commitment to sustaining the bond with the people of Rivers State is evident in his words and actions.
