RSU Leads the Way in Ethical AI Adoption

Rivers State University (RSU) is taking a proactive approach to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic research while ensuring its ethical use.
The university's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb Obipi, emphasized that AI is meant to augment human capabilities, not replace them, during the opening ceremony of the Postgraduate International Annual Conference.
The conference theme, "Interdisciplinary Innovation: Bridging Knowledge for a Sustainable Future," highlights the importance of collaboration and innovation in addressing global challenges.
Prof. Esther Fomsi, lead presenter and University of Port Harcourt faculty member, noted that AI can foster interdisciplinary research and provide solutions to pressing human problems.
Prof. Okechukwu Onuchukwu, Acting Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, echoed the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving, emphasizing that integrating AI across fields can enhance innovation and global competitiveness.
Prof. Obipi's emphasis on ethical AI use underscores RSU's commitment to responsible innovation, aiming to empower researchers and students to harness AI's potential while minimizing risks.
As RSU takes the lead in promoting ethical AI use, the institution is poised to become a hub for innovative research and academic excellence, shaping the future of academia and bridging the gap between knowledge and sustainability.
