NYSC Corps Members Receive Long-Awaited ₦77,000 Allowance Boost

In a welcome development, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has begun paying the new monthly allowance of ₦77,000 to corps members, effective March 2025 ¹. This significant increase from the previous ₦33,000 monthly allowance is part of the Federal Government's efforts to improve the welfare of corps members and provide them with adequate financial support throughout their service year.

According to NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, the new allowance is a well-deserved improvement for corps members, who have been eagerly awaiting this development ¹. The payment process is expected to be smooth and timely, ensuring that corps members receive their allowances without any delays.

Corps members have taken to social media to express their gratitude to the Federal Government and the NYSC for the increased allowance ¹. This move is seen as a significant milestone in the NYSC's efforts to improve the welfare of its members.

It's worth noting that the Federal Government has also pledged to pay the outstanding balance of the increased allowance to corps members, which was announced in September 2024 but had yet to be fully implemented ².
