Rivers State 2025 Budget to Tackle Unemployment Amid Inflation

Rivers State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Peter Medee, has revealed that the 2025 budget will surpass the 2024 budget, with a focus on creating jobs to combat unemployment and mitigate the effects of inflation. Speaking on Nigeria Info FM's Morning CrossFire, Dr. Medee emphasized that although the state government cannot directly control inflation, it will concentrate on generating employment in vital sectors such as agriculture, health, and education [Source: Nigeria Info 92.3 PH].

The increased budget is aimed at addressing the pressing issue of unemployment in the state. According to Dr. Medee, the state government has already made significant strides in implementing the 2024 budget, which has been enacted into law despite the Federal High Court ruling that annulled the N800 billion budget passed by five members of the Rivers State House of Assembly [Source: Nigeria Info 92.3 PH].
