KABIYA EMERGES PDP CHAIRMAN KANO

 

*YUSUF KIBIYA EMERGES AS NEW KANO PDP CHAIRMAN*


Yusuf Kibiya, a former Commissioner for Agriculture in Kano State, has been elected as the new chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Kibiya, who served under ex-governor Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso from 1999 to 2003, secured a resounding victory with 3,964 votes, defeating his opponent Nura Nuhu who garnered 244 votes.


In his acceptance speech, Kibiya emphasized the PDP's readiness to tackle internal challenges and prepare for future electoral contests. The Election Committee chairman, Halilu Mazagani, called for unity among party members and stressed the importance of presenting credible candidates to the electorate.


Former Kano State governor and PDP stalwart, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, expressed optimism about the party's prospects, stating that the PDP is poised to challenge any party in any election, including the local government election scheduled for October 26, 2024, and the 2027 general elections.
