Rivers State Government Tackles Traffic Congestion: BUA Group and Olam Grains Summoned


In a bid to address the perennial traffic gridlock along Azikiwe Road in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Government has invited the management of BUA Group and Olam Grains (also known as Port Harcourt Crown Floor Mill) to a crucial meeting. The meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 11 am, aims to find a lasting solution to the traffic congestion caused by the companies' operations, particularly during peak hours [Source: #tinabriggsnews].


According to the Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Evans Bipi, the meeting will focus on easing traffic congestion along the Azikiwe Road axis of the City Centre. The management of both companies has been directed to take the meeting seriously, with attendance being mandatory.


This development comes on the heels of previous concerns raised about the damage caused by BUA Group's trucks to roads in Rivers State ¹. The company has been involved in various infrastructure projects, including the expansion and dualization of the 132km Kano-Kazaure-Kongolam highway ².


The meeting is a step towards addressing the concerns of commuters and finding a solution to the traffic woes in Port Harcourt.
